Responsible to assist the Chief Operating Engineer with the planning, implementation, coordination and supervision of mechanical operations, maintenance, communications, energy management and manpower development programs for this mission critical data center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Supervise maintenance staff; and assign and monitor maintenance projects.

Conduct regular inspections of operating mechanical, electrical and equipment systems; make necessary adjustments to operating equipment and controls.

Assist with maintenance/engineering issues (plumbing, HVAC, electrical) as required.

Assist with the administration of inventory control programs and systems.

Provide for quality assurance by creating and implementing preventive maintenance programs and recommending improvements to existing programs on an on-going basis.

Develop/maintain effective building-specific maintenance and safety procedure manuals.

Coordinate maintenance efforts with outside contractors and technicians.

Maintain on-going communication with tenants, owners, property management and vendors.

Coordinate development of and/or maintain as-built drawings.

Respond quickly to emergency situations (i.e. fire, evacuation, equipment failure etc.) and customer concerns.

Prepare and maintain engineering reports.

Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and company directives as relates to building operations.

Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for identifying training needs, tracking performance, coaching, and motivating direct reports. Responsible for hiring, terminating, compensation, and performance evaluation.

Over see building crew.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Advanced knowledge in HVAC, fire alarm, UPS, raised floor computer room, generators, chillers and other systems related to critical facilities, large commercial buildings and data centers.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

Universal Technician for CFC’s, valid driver’s license, appropriate license/permit for trade as may also be required, i.e. Journeyman or Master Electrician License or City Licenses

The individual will manage a staff of designers/drafters and be responsible for overall fixture design and implementation. This position will mechanically design fixtures with a focus on cost effective and high quality solutions. Especially important to this role is to manage timelines and productivity of staff and ensure quality. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use experience in store fixture design to improve the quality, practice, and delivery of engineering designs to our clients.
  • Serve as primary interface and process expert with customer design to facilitate a producible design, fabrication, and scheduling of build-to-print products with a focus on design for manufacturability and process improvement.
  • Translates customer requirements from the initial quote stage through qualification and implementation.
  • Responsible for accurate Bill of Materials.
  • Select and ensure proper qualification of suppliers.
  • Lead and direct the activities of the Estimator(s). Actively participate in and review complex or strategic RFQs. Evaluate quotes in terms of delivery dates/commitments, materials, tooling, and fixtures/equipment necessary to support specific production.
  • Act as a facilitator to staff, leveraging in-house “process experts” to champion design for manufacturability, process improvement initiatives, and cost reduction activities.
  • Prepares rough sketches for staff by studying engineering specifications.
  • Prepares final drawings by studying engineering sketches, specifications, and supporting documents; drawing multiple views of fixtures components and parts; and identifying, tolerances, and materials.
  • Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information; conferring with designers/drafters.
  • Lead, teach, and direct the activities of the designers/drafters. Assist in the planning for development, documentation, implementation, control, and improvement of production processes.
  • Manage relationship with external SolidWorks system consultants.
  • Working closely with Quality management, direct appropriate application of to ensure high quality, cost effective, and robust process implementation.
  • Develop and utilize performance metrics for all areas of direct responsibility to maintain alignment of team performance and company goals.
  • Lead technical troubleshooting of production processes and equipment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and preferable 3 or more years experience with fixture design. Experience with computer aided design software, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks is required. The successful candidate will possess two to three years' direct work experience in a manufacturing environment. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or equivalent level of training and experience.
