MEP Construction Project Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

Barton Malow is seeking a highly skilled MEP Project Manager to oversee the construction of a mission-critical data center near Philadelphia, PA. This is a high-impact leadership role that demands hands-on project oversight, advanced technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and a demonstrated history of success managing large-scale, fast-paced construction projects. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with complex MEP coordination and installation in mission-critical environments, particularly within data centers, where precision, uptime, and quality control are paramount. This role offers the opportunity to play a central part in delivering a high-performance facility that supports cutting-edge technology infrastructure.

 


KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manage the full lifecycle of MEP systems from preconstruction through closeout, including design coordination, procurement, installation, commissioning, and turnover.
  • Oversee and coordinate the activities of MEP subcontractors and self-perform crews to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all safety, quality, and code requirements across all MEP trades.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and client stakeholders to ensure alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Drive MEP-specific scheduling, budgeting, and procurement strategies to support data center construction requirements.
  • Lead BIM coordination efforts for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Review and manage all MEP submittals, RFIs, and change orders in collaboration with design teams and subcontractors.
  • Support project controls including cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Facilitate MEP commissioning and turnover processes with owners and consultants.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, mechanical/electrical engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in MEP construction management with significant exposure to data center projects.
  • Proven expertise in large-scale, technically complex MEP systems including HVAC, power distribution, generators, UPS systems, and critical cooling infrastructure.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency with project management software including Microsoft Office, BIM360, Bluebeam, and scheduling tools.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC processes, system turnover documentation, and commissioning protocols.
