The Propeller Engineering team within Drives and Propulsion Engineering Department at Mercury Marine is seeking a Propeller Design Engineer to design and develop propellers for Mercury Outboards, Mercruiser Sterndrive engines, and Mercury high-speed diesel marine engines. The candidate would be responsible for propeller design and development, updating design methodology, and creating design tools.

What will your primary responsibilities be?

  • Design and develop propeller geometry
  • Acquire prototype hardware
  • Develop test procedures to evaluate propeller performance/durability
  • Evaluate propeller performance/durability
  • Create technical reports of design and test results
  • Develop design standards to guide future project work

Who are we looking for?

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum B.S Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Mechanical Engineering
  • 8-10 years engineering experience working with propeller design for recreational marine applications
  • A strong working knowledge of aerodynamic or hydrodynamic theory
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Marine Engineering, or Naval Architecture
  • 10+ years engineering experience working with propeller design for recreational marine applications
  • Familiarity with propeller modelling tools using CFD or FEA
