JOB SUMMARY
Assist Engineering with material selection and the analysis of materials, including failure analysis, development and evaluation of heat treat samples and providing feedback for manufacturing.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Write and revise material specifications.
- Support in house heat treatment facilities.
- Develop and qualify new welding procedures and processes.
- Interface with and support outside labs contracted by NOV.
- Interface with and support outside manufacturing facilities who sell products to NOV.
- Report writing and literature research.
- Conduct failure analysis.
- Provide general materials support for NOV locations around the world.
- Perform other work related tasks as assigned.
- Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
- Travel: 10% Domestic and International
FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review supplier inquiries and RFD's related to metallurgical criteria. the candidate shall have familiarity with oil and gas common drilling materials and their properties for guidance/opinion from corresponding product line group.
- Work closely with Quality and Manufacturing Team day to day to review all NCR's generated by manufacturing and assigned to metallurgy.
- Provide guidance and engineering support to product line groups in queries related but not limited to material selection, material application, exposure to environments and failure modes.
- Write, revise, and maintain material spec catalog, and be responsible for an archive of approximately 350 specifications that are released under PCG metallurgy group.
- Provide technical support for QA/QC personnel as well as manufacturing and product engineering. Time to time the candidate will support after Market Group with their queries.
- Participate in 20K HPHT related meetings and answer customers' technical questions and concerns if any related to non-conformance reports.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum a Bachelor's degree in Materials Science or Metallurgy
- Master's degree is highly desirable
- 1-5 years of industry experience.
- Quality Assurance is preferred.
