How do I access insights to optimize my job postings and hiring strategy?
iHire’s Hiring Market Insights dashboard allows you to compare candidate supply and job demand based on specific skills, job titles, and location data.
By analyzing these metrics – sourced from iHire’s active candidate and jobs databases – you can better understand the labor market, identify hiring opportunities, and optimize your job postings to attract the right candidates.
To access your Hiring Market Insights dashboard:
- Sign into your account, select the “Analytics” tab, then choose “Hiring Market Insights.”
- The data and filter values you’ll see initially reflect the iHire industry for which you’re currently logged in. If you’ve signed in through iHire.com, you will be prompted to select an industry.
- Next to “Insight Type,” choose the data you want to see by either skills or job titles. Then, choose a geographic level (metro, state, or nationwide) for deeper analysis. If you’ve selected the skills view, you can choose which skills categories to include in your analysis.
- The resulting data is displayed in a table below. Data is displayed and refreshed based on your filter selections in real time.
Within the table’s columns, you’ll see the following data points:
- Candidate Supply %: The percentage of active candidates in your selected market who include the skill or job title in their iHire profile.
- Job Demand %: The percentage of active jobs in your selected market that match the job title or required skill.
- Hiring Opportunity: These metrics compare candidate availability to job demand within your selected market, based on iHire’s data. Higher values suggest more available talent relative to demand.
For suggestions on what you can do with the supply and demand insights provided on this dashboard, check out the panel to the right of the data table (or beneath, if you’re using mobile). For example, you can use the data patterns to focus your hiring efforts more strategically in the following ways:
- Add Skills to Expand Your Reach: If certain skills show a strong candidate supply or positive opportunity, consider adding them to your job posting to appear in more qualified candidate searches.
- Consider Related/Similar Roles: If competition is high for the role you’re hiring for, explore similar titles within your industry to increase your reach and attract candidates you may have otherwise missed.
- Open Up Your Location: If your market looks tight, expanding to a broader region or offering remote flexibility can increase your candidate reach.
