Senior Electrical Engineer
Successful candidates will play a critical role in supporting manufacturing processes, end of line testing and working cross functionally with mechanical and software engineering teams.
Design of sensor signal conditioning and communication electronics, power management electronics, and actuator control electronics.
Take designed electronics and new designs through EMC/EMI, ESD and safety compliance testing.
Preparation of technical documentation.
Design of electronic test equipment/fixtures and documentation.
Development of test procedures for electronic systems.
Simulation of electronic circuits (analog, digital and hybrid) using SPICE (LT SPICE preferred). Prototyping and validation of electronic circuits (analog, digital and hybrid).
BS Electrical Engineering and 7 years of experience.
MS Electrical Engineering and 5 years of experience.
Experience with EMC/EMI, ESD and safety compliance, testing for at least North America and Europe.
Strong Analog and digital circuit design experience:
Power converters, DC-DC, DC-AC, inverters/motor drives for PMAC or BLDC motors.
Various switching power topologies and strong understanding of switching, analog circuits, and signal conditioning (MOSFETs, BJTs, gate drive circuitry, magnetics, op-amps, filters, encoders, high-speed communication).
Experience generating Design Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (DFMEAs), performing Design Verification Testing (DVT), testing corner cases and HALT/HASS tests.
Strong proficiency with lab test equipment, multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, electronic loads. Circuit debugging and troubleshooting.
Experience with taking product to market, end of line testing and support of manufacturing processes.
In addition, the following skills are desirable:
Understanding of Thermal analysis for high power converters.
Understanding of Ethernet based hardware design.
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or RF hardware / system design experience.
Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Test (DFT) experience.
Understanding of IPC standards for PCB design.
Ability to multitask and prioritize.
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
Able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
Persuasive oral/written communication abilities.
Flexible and adaptable (willing to work on other technical problems as needed).
Insatiable curiosity for science, technology and understanding of how things work.
Open to comments, advice – team player.
Comfortable in collaborating with other engineering disciplines.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Work is performed onsite in Salt Lake City, Utah, Monday through Friday with ability to work evenings and weekends, as necessary.
Safety awareness is absolutely essential at all times while in the work area.
Must be able to stand and sit for extended times.
