We are looking for a driven and curious Senior Civil Engineer to support our Civil Works team in a hybrid capacity to support either our Arlington, VA Houston, Texas, or St. Louis, MO, office groups.
As a key member of our team, you'll join our collaborative process providing our clients with award-winning planning, engineering, construction management, and design-build project delivery. You'll be performing civil design calculations, writing specifications, developing cost estimates, and preparing site and utility layouts while conforming to design standards for a variety of Federal projects.
You'll lead civil work designs for a wide variety of clients, including conventional sites for buildings, water, and wastewater infrastructure. Your work will include the site designs for pump stations, treatment facilities, conveyance and storage systems, locks and dams, tidal gates and barriers, and floodwalls. Responsibilities will also include storm water drainage designs, small and large-scale hydrology and hydraulic modeling in support of conveyance systems. You'll have the opportunity to coordinate project assignments with other engineers and technicians in and out of your discipline group to review and recommend required changes to drawings supplied by contractors, clients, and other engineers. You will attend multi-discipline design meetings, interact with clients, and lead a team of EITs.

Responsibilities include:
Perform non-routine and complex assignments from verbal instructions
Work closely with design originator and Project Managers
Inform Project Manager(s) of progress on assigned projects and request work or additional resources when needed
Recommend design changes requiring sound judgment and discretion
Flexible in work assignments and team assignments
Research and implement regulatory requirements and design standards
Review drawings for completeness
Analyze sketches, notes, and other input material to determine and plan the best approach for developing designs with minimal supervision
Some travel may be required, including international

Here's what you'll need
Master's Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Conveyance Engineering preferred
ProfessionalEngineer (P.E.) license required
At least 10 years relevant professional experience for civil works design projects
Federal design experience with USACE
Experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment
Construction support services for civil works projects
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D software
Knowledge of design codes & standards (International Building Code, UFC's, etc.)
Proactive attitude of taking independent initiative, exhibiting creative problem-solving, and eagerness to learn while remaining dedicated to teamwork
Experience with office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams) and review software (Bluebeam)
United States Citizenship required
Ideally, you'll also have:
Experience leading project teams and mentoring junior staff
Federal design experience for DoD, Federal Civilian, and/or Defense Contractor project experience
Heavy civil works experience with onsite participation in construction activities
Experience with MicroStation
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentations
