Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview****Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer****Reports To: VP Technical Services****FLSA Status: Exempt Full Time****SUMMARY:**The Mechanical Design Engineer uses understanding of physical sciences and mechanical systems to conceptualize and design functional systems. This position involves all activities of system design from conceptualization and design through manufacturing and testing of products.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**- Conceptualizing and designing products to meet system requirements- Creating detailed designs using 3D design software- Use of FEA analysis techniques for evaluation of designs- Working collaboratively with customers, sales and stakeholders to develop specifications- Doing research on applicable technologies to solve design challenges- Analyze and resolve design issues- Conduct testing and simulations to verify design validity- Develop and maintain accurate records and documentation- Participate in cost estimation, budgeting and resource management**Qualifications:**- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Physics- Experience in use of SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling software- Excellent organizational, communication, problem solving and leadership skills- Good analytical/critical thinking- Relevant professional qualifications**Work Environment: **Office environmentThis job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
