Structural Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Structural Engineer to join our team and contribute to critical engineering initiatives. This role involves leading engineering and design activities, focusing on project management, analysis, and design within the vertical related to the assigned functional area. The successful candidate will collaborate with higher-level engineers, internal project staff, and client engineers to complete projects efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate work activities of others within the work group and department to complete structural projects.
  • Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees.
  • Utilize computer software to design all substation structures and foundations.
  • Review Design Basis, Design Notes, Hazard Log, SOW, Technical Specs, and Field Review Plan.
  • Collaborate with electrical designers to develop structural scopes and estimates based on one-line diagrams and electrical arrangement drawings.
  • Review structural design drawings, fabricator detail drawings, and other project documents to verify compliance with design theory, material specifications, and appropriate structural codes and standards.
  • Make recommendations for improving structural designs, drawings, or documents.
  • Create material requisitions and coordinate with fabricators to verify lead times and costs, ensuring correct steel is ordered and delivered according to the project schedule.
  • Coordinate with electrical designers and other structural team members to complete required submittals by the project schedule.
  • Function as a project lead for structural projects.
  • Initiate corrective actions when substation project objectives are not being met.
  • Interpret codes and regulations applicable to project work.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in substation, electrical engineering, and design engineering.
  • Competency in project engineering, substation design, and physical design.
  • Proficiency in structural engineering, design, and transmission line design.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in structural engineering, analysis, and foundation work.
  • Bachelors Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A SE License is required for the State of Washington.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution can count towards years of experience.
Work Environment

The position is based in a quiet engineering office environment with a business casual dress code. Teamwork is highly encouraged and occurs frequently.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $65.00/hr.
