The Valent BioSciences manufacturing site located on an expansive 73-acre site in Osage, IA is a state of the art 130,000 square foot plant and is the largest purpose-built biorational facility in the world. It serves as the manufacturing and quality control center for Valent BioSciences broad portfolio of fermentation products.

Description of Job:

As the Reliability Engineer at Valent BioSciences, you will be responsible for developing, managing, and coordinating the maintenance reliability programs at the site. This includes key assets, utilities, and support equipment. You will achieve this by leveraging your expertise along with input from engineering resources, production coordinators, and maintenance employees. The goal is to ensure maximum availability and performance of these critical systems while supporting the company’s overall policies, goals, and objectives.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead and manage Mechanical Integrity Program for equipment and facilities.
  • Lead preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve and upgrade reliability of equipment and facilities.
  • Prepare predictive and preventive maintenance plans applying company standards and manufacturers' recommendations.
  • Manage the design, procurement, and construction of capital projects in accordance with OSHA and PSM requirements
  • Take a lead role in minimizing energy usage through innovation
  • Define strategic spare parts stock based on reliability tools.
  • Drive programs to improve safety, quality, and cost in Maintenance function.
  • Responsibility for Environmental, Safety, and Health compliance.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist site manufacturing production, maintenance, and reliability teams with data analytics and reporting to maintain and improve daily Site manufacturing performance.
  • Commissioning / Validating projects and writing of SW's (Standard Work)
  • Partner with Maintenance Manager to develop,, and conduct technical reliability studies and evaluations in order to maintain reliability of equipment
  • Leads Root Cause Failure Analysis and Reliability Maintenance and preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Participates in engineering activities that improve the reliability of equipment.
  • Train employees in the value of maintenance reliability and actions required to increase operational efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Industrial Experience
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of industrial maintenance and reliability engineering experience in an industrial / manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience in a food grade processing facility is a plus.
  • Experience in Vibration, Infrared, Alignment, Ultrasonic, Motor Circuit, and Lubrication analysis
  • Background in rotating equipment, seals, piping, pumps, fans, blowers, and material handling equipment.
  • Proven record of accomplishment of managing engineering projects.
  • 2+ years of reliability centered maintenance program development or implementation
  • 2+ years of maintenance planning
  • 2+ years of supporting troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment
  • 2+ years of condition-based monitoring systems experience

Base Salary: The estimated annual base salary for this position ranges from: $81,200 to 105,500. Individual pay is based upon location, skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
