The essential job responsibilities of the Engineer 4- Residential will reports to the Supervisor. Engineer 4 - Residential will train and direct employees engaged in and perform duties in electric, gas and water distribution facilities design/ specification for residential developments; and provide utility coordination with external governmental agencies and utilities .Train and direct employees engaged in and perform duties in electric, gas and water distribution facilities for residential developments including layouts, fuse sizing, pulling tensions, required guying, voltage drop analyses, transformer sizing, pipe sizing, alternate design, etc. Schedule, assign and coordinate the work of professional and technical employees; coordinate work with other areas and outside agencies/ utilities. Plan and layout work to ensure timely completion of work commitments for pre-construction activities relative to subdivisions and apartments which includes electric, gas and water distribution facilities engineering design and cost quotation, cost analyses, workload analyses, etc. Monitor trends and / or tendencies of builders and developers as economic conditions within the housing market change; attend committee meetings; make presentations; perform studies; and monitor pre-construction job status and determine project readiness for construction. Review work to ensure an adequate quantity/ quality of work is achieved; provide information and instructions to employees and developers; resolve problems. Prepare/ review and approve various correspondence and reports/ records including drawings, sketches, compatible unit designs, performance appraisals/ business plans, time/ mileage, and system programs; provide technical assistance and system information as required for updating construction standards, manual, service policies, engineering manual, etc. Make field trips to gather data, take measurements and / or inspect/ observe utility construction. Stay abreast of Division policies/ procedures and up-to-date developments and techniques in the field of engineering design of utility facilities relative to residential developments. Operate Division vehicle. Perform other duties as directed.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements:
To perform the Engineer 4-Residential role, you must: -Tennessee Professional Engineer License. -Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering. -Must have 6 years of experience in the design/ installation of electric, gas and water distribution facilities. -Must successfully complete NIMS Training within one year of entering the job. -Must have an occupationally significant combination of : ability to apply appropriate electric, gas, and water engineering principles/ methods; organizational ability to plan, formulate and carry out programs/ policies; written and oral communication skills; ability to relate to a diverse population; and mathematical ability. -Must have a valid driver's license from state of residence.

Physical Working Conditions: Works in office majority of the time. Subject to construction hazards while making field inspections. Requires light lifting; some standing and walking; sitting at desk for long periods of time.
