Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated Junior Electrical Engineer to join our growing team. This entry-level role supports the design, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of high-quality electrical panels and relative systems. The ideal candidate is an early-career professional with a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles and a willingness to learn in a hands-on environment. You will work alongside experienced engineers and technicians to develop skills in variable frequency drives (VFDs), PLC and HMI programming, AutoCAD drafting, and electrical system testing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the design and development of electrical systems for control panels and shore power cables.
- Create and update electrical schematics and panel layouts using AutoCAD or similar software.
- Support testing and troubleshooting of electrical components and systems in production and field environments.
- Participate in the configuration and commissioning of VFDs and PLC/HMI systems.
- Collaborate with production and field service teams to ensure quality and performance of built systems.
- Assist with documentation including test procedures, wiring diagrams, and user manuals.
- Support field start-up, troubleshooting, and commissioning efforts under supervision.
- Stay current on industry standards, tools, and technologies in electrical engineering.
- Maintain safe work practices and compliance with relevant codes and standards (UL, NEC, NFPA).
- Participate in ongoing training and mentorship provided by senior engineering staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field (required).
- Relevant work, internships or project experience preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Understanding of electrical engineering principles and system design.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar drafting tools.
- Introductory knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs is a plus.
- Understanding of electrical safety standards and codes such as NEC and UL.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to learn programming tools like CoDeSys or vendor-specific platforms.
Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in an engineering or technical environment preferred.
- Hands-on experience through coursework, labs, internships, or co-ops.
- Experience reading and interpreting electrical diagrams is preferred.
- Exposure to field service or installation work is a plus but not required.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Valid driver's license with ability to travel to customer sites when required.
- Any training or certifications in PLC/HMI/VFD programming (preferred but not required).
Abilities and Attributes
- A hands-on learner with strong attention to detail and a positive, collaborative mindset.
- Comfortable working in a shop or field environment with technicians.
- Ability to use hand tools and basic test equipment (e.g., multimeters).
- Ability to read technical documentation, follow procedures, and complete assignments with guidance.
- Eagerness to grow in a technical role and contribute to team success.
Working Conditions
- Work is primarily performed in a shop or field environment with occasional office-based tasks.
- Occasional travel to customer locations for training or support.
- May be exposed to loud noises, equipment, and electrical panels under supervision.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and work in various physical positions (e.g., standing, kneeling).
