Role Overview:
The Regional Engineering Manager provides Technical leadership to Site Operations teams, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of building systems. This role is accountable for maintaining professionalism, meeting client needs, and achieving high uptime. Responsibilities include asset protection and improvement, reliability-based maintenance, inspection program implementation, maintenance best practices, and continuous performance optimization. The role also involves providing technical expertise, mentorship, and training to site operations teams and supporting strategic Technical Services and Sustainability Operations programs.
This position is a non-union management position that primarily consists of on-site work, supports multiple sites within the Region, and may require up to 50% travel.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Operations Management: Note - the level and time commitment required per site will vary depending on the level of on-site engineering resources, which can range from large presence to no presence.
Develop and implement consistent maintenance practices, KPIs, and improvement plans.
Support strategic sourcing in contract negotiations.
Collaborate with technical services and external parties for root cause analysis and problem resolution.
Research and implement cost reduction programs.
Improve energy efficiency and support sustainability initiatives.
Support the Site Teams development of Capital Planning projects and deferred maintenance programming.
Ensure regulatory compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards; manage incident reporting. (PTP & JHA development and review)
Manage Water System Safety Management Program escalation and remediation.
Guide site teams through engineering checklists and hard services matrices.
Track preventative maintenance work orders.
Supports operations management in evaluating the technical skills and performance of on-site engineers and technicians, as well as the effectiveness of Technical Programs.
Provide guidance and support for site specific self performance analysis and business case development, including proposal development for additional and/or upskilled resources (FTEs) and the calculation for potential return on investment (ROI).
Technical Services & Sustainability Program Support:
Serve as the primary point of contact for Technical Services initiatives and programs.
Provide guidance and support for strategic initiative rollouts.
Address site team inquiries and escalate complex issues.
Act as a technical resource for programs like JCAP and PM Quality Audit Program.
Support the Sites Emergency Response Program.
Drive the improvement of global compliance playbooks.
Participate in MEP Project Design Reviews.
Participate in the annual Capital Project list evaluation, prioritization, and CapEx recommendation process.
Support site teams with Refrigerant Management and Tracking (Trakref).
Promote the Energy Conservation Measure (ECM) Dashboard and assist with implementation.
Required Skills:
Technical Expertise: High Level of Proficiency and operational experience in commercial/critical facilities systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire life safety, BMS).
Root Cause Analysis: Expert in leading teams using the 5 Whys method.
Mentorship & Training: Skilled in empowering team members.
Proactive Problem Solving: Identifies and addresses potential issues.
Solution Development: Conducts thorough investigations for effective resolutions.
