The Mechanical Engineer will apply technical expertise and engineering knowledge to develop accurate, competitive, and profitable bids for complex projects in a dynamic and fast-paced market.

- Design and layout complete paint finishing systems, including equipment sizing, selection, and cost estimation for major projects.
- Review project scopes with Sales Managers and Sales Representatives to ensure system designs meet customer process requirements.
- Communicate directly with customers, paint and chemical suppliers, and project stakeholders for technical input and alignment.
- Utilize sound technical and economic judgment to maximize accuracy and output while providing timely estimates.
- Develop cost-effective, innovative designs that lower customer costs through optimized system components and shop assembly opportunities.
- Prepare detailed specifications for subcontracted and purchased items to ensure supplier clarity and performance.
- Share best practices and lessons learned with team members to improve department efficiency and reduce proposal cycle times.
- Support the Sales team through technical guidance, customer meetings, proposal reviews, and travel as necessary.
- Remain involved throughout engineering and installation phases to provide design interpretation, estimate change orders, and support job profitability.
- Assist in maintaining and improving estimating templates, standard pricing, and cost databases.
- Document all critical project details thoroughly and consistently.
- Represent the company at trade shows and industry events to maintain visibility and build professional relationships.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and continuous improvement efforts.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in mechanical or systems engineering, preferably within paint finishing systems or related industries.
- Experience in developing proposals for large-scale or custom-engineered systems.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, and Word.
- Strong understanding of paint finishing system design, applications, and cost drivers.
- Ability to apply engineering principles to solve complex estimating challenges.
- Other Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility preferred.
- Multilingual capabilities are a plus.
