Commercial Building Engineer
Location: Fort Atkinson, WI 53538
Work Schedule: Monday Friday, 7:00 AM 3:30 PM (some flexibility required; potential for on-call work)
Pay Rate: $40 $42 per hour
Work Environment: On-site, Industrial Manufacturing Facility
Assignment Duration: 5-month contract
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Commercial Building Engineer to support operations at a new client site in Fort Atkinson, WI. This position requires hands-on technical expertise in facilities maintenance, a proactive attitude, and the ability to operate independently within a high-paced industrial environment. The engineer will play a key role in establishing and maintaining the client relationship during the launch phase of this new account.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform general building maintenance tasks and repairs independently
Troubleshoot and resolve HVAC issues, coordinate with HVAC teams and vendors
Conduct routine inspections of fire suppression systems and fire extinguishers
Perform eye wash station checks and ensure ongoing safety compliance
Respond to facility-related issues such as restroom maintenance and touch-up painting
Support and strengthen the client relationship as part of the onsite team
Maintain detailed records and documentation of all maintenance activities
Lead, oversee, or redirect third-party vendors and contractors as needed
Work Environment & Safety Requirements:
Clean, industrial manufacturing setting
100% compliance with eye and ear protection PPE
Steel-toed boots required
Will occasionally work alone or with vendor assistance
Initial team training and onboarding provided
Qualifications:
Minimum 4 years of relevant building engineering or facilities maintenance experience
High school diploma required; trade school education preferred
Must possess a Universal EPA certification
Journeyman certification not required, but journeyman-level training is highly preferred
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Confident working independently with minimal supervision
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) knowledge
Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing facility
Additional certifications or licenses in building trades or safety
Technical Proficiency:
Familiarity with iOS devices for work order tracking or reporting
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook & Teams
