Overview

TRC is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Project Manager II to support delivery of decarbonization, electrification and energy efficiency initiatives primarily serving the residential, multifamily, and small-to-medium business sectors in New York State. Eligible candidates will be a hands-on, highly skilled resource with a combination of project management, project administration, and technical experience. Knowledge in electric heat pump technologies, building science, and utility operations is strongly preferred. Mechanical or energy engineering, sustainability and/or energy efficiency expertise is highly valued. TRC seeks an individual with proven success managing a diverse set of responsibilities and with superb communication skills to grow with our company. The role will include supporting a statewide program, implementing a wide array of market-shaping initiatives, directly supporting TRC clients, and interacting with heat pump manufacturers, distributors, installation contractors, and end use customers.

The position is located in New York State, or working from a TRC office in Clifton Park, New York City, Ithaca, Melville, West Seneca, or Liverpool.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Clean Heat Connect initiative – bringing heat pump educational and support resources to the market through the upstream supply chain
    • Act as a program liaison to multiple heat pump distributor and/or manufacturer companies – building rapport, promoting program resources, gathering market intelligence, and supporting the initiative’s goals
    • Attend events at heat pump distributor’s locations and promote program resources
    • Develop, and/or manage the development of, support resources for the heat pump installation contractor’s market
    • Support program pipeline tracking and data collection
    • Suggest improvements to program and project management processes.
  • Support the Experience Clean Heat campaign – promoting public awareness and acceptance of heat pump technologies.
    • Help recruit sites for promotional campaigns
    • Communicate and coordinate between participating entities and TRC staff to arrange for site-staff training, signage, and events
    • Compile program data from participating sites
    • Support program pipeline tracking, data collection, and program reporting to the client.
    • Identify potential issues with participating sites and communicate them to NYSERDA staff along with recommended solutions.
    • Suggest improvements to program and project management processes.
  • Support or manage electrification research projects – including demonstration pilots, case-studies, market assessments, and similar
    • Conduct literature review
    • Fulfill contracted deliverables such as project updates, summary findings, final reports, and similar
    • Recruit and engage with demonstration sites
    • Manage project budgets effectively
    • Direct and support staff and subcontractors
  • Support or manage additional projects and programs that support building electrification and energy use reduction in the built environment
  • Engage with clients and support proposal development for new work
  • Write narratives and compile PowerPoint presentations on program performance and, if needed, present on said programs at meetings, conferences, and events.
  • Keep informed of new products and market information of interest to our clients;
  • Maintain knowledge on energy efficient products and programs;
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Desired Skills

  • 4-12 years of project experience related to energy efficiency or decarbonization
  • Bachelors preferred; Masters degree a plus but not required
  • Experience with electric heat pumps, energy efficiency, and building science considerations related to high performance buildings
  • Heat pump market understanding, including how to drive customer acceptance
  • Established analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to set priorities, collect and document project requirements, successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, time management organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • The ability to communicate technical topics to a range of technical and non-technical audiences through case studies and other materials
  • Excellent computer skills: proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Team-oriented, hands-on, highly skilled, adaptive, and client-focused mentality.
  • Ability to coordinate with other departments to support projects and development or refinement of strategies and processes
  • Must be a self-starter and function well independently and in teams
  • Sustainability/energy efficiency/building science certifications a plus but not required (including but not limited to: LEED, MFBA, CEM, PHI/PHIUS, CMVP, etc.)

Compensation : In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
