Environmental Engineer 4 - Water, Wastewater and Conveyance Focus

CDM Smith is looking for an experienced engineer to assist with a wide range of projects in the water and wastewater treatment and conveyance disciplines. Project needs are primarily in the New England region but could span CDM Smiths vast network around the United States and internationally. These projects range from designing PFAS removal facilities, infiltration and inflow analysis of sewer systems, and the rehabilitation of pump stations. The ideal candidate will have a wide range of experience to build upon and an eager attitude to learn.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Under limited supervision, create basic to moderate complexity water and wastewater treatment facilities, water and sewer systems, pipelines, pump stations, etc. engineering designs to meet client project requirements.
• Design the new construction of or rehabilitation water main and sewer pipelines for municipal clients
• Create and review draft designs and reports for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Ensure that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
• Perform site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications.
• Contribute to firm's Technical Knowledge Management by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc. Submit technical papers and designs for publishing technical journals.
• Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposals (RFPs).
• Review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local, and federal regulations and best practices.
• Meet with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs.
• Attend conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff.
• Perform other duties as required. Provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff.
• Mentor more junior staff and develop them for future growth within the discipline and firm. May supervise the work of junior engineers on project work.

Minimum Qualifictations:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire, promotion, or transfer).
• 5 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
