Description

Coastal Healthy Communities Coalition (CHCC), located in Biddeford, is seeking a proactive Project Coordinator to lead health promotion initiatives aimed at enhancing public health outcomes. Reporting directly to the Director, the Coordinator will collaborate closely with community partners to develop, execute, and assess interventions focused initially on preventing childhood lead poisoning in Biddeford. The role involves building a coalition of raising awareness, delivering education, and advocating for policy change.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading the formation of a stakeholder coalition to identify actionable strategies for preventing childhood lead poisoning and overseeing the implementation of these initiatives.

Conducting community education and awareness campaigns through training sessions, participation in community events, speaking engagements at partner and community gatherings, and utilizing multimedia channels such as social media, PSAs, and press releases.

Focusing primarily on lead poisoning prevention while exploring additional topics based on available grant funding.

This part-time position (20-32 hours per week) offers the potential for full-time hours depending on individual and future funding and interest. The role requires reliable transportation for attending activities and flexibility for occasional evening and weekend commitments. Funded entirely through grants, this position provides an opportunity to engage a diverse community in efforts aimed at promoting healthier outcomes for children and their families.

Responsibilities

Provide support for developing and achieving the goals of the Lead Prevention Grants

Work with local town personnel, family serving organizations, businesses, and other partners to engage stakeholders for community level environmental change

Promote awareness of lead hazards and direct education to target populations

Advocate to promote policy development to affect environmental change

Plan and organize events to increase community awareness of Public Health Initiatives

Use educational and promotional materials to reach target populations of the project

Collaborate with CHCC Director/Staff to develop and design media campaigns and support website/social media accounts

Track activities and complete required reporting monthly/quarterly

Participate in required trainings and other trainings as appropriate to maintain expertise and skills to perform job functions

Incorporate cultural responsiveness into all planning and evaluation activities

Prepare and maintain reports, records, and documents pertaining to funding sources using Word & Excel

Stay current on research and data related to grant initiatives

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree preferred in Public Health, Education, or a related field, with at least 2 years of relevant experience in community health, policy change, housing issues, municipal management, or engaging diverse partners (e.g., immigrants, refugees, families with low-income, individuals facing housing insecurity, property owners).

Demonstrated success in leadership, community organizing, meeting facilitation, and public relations/public speaking.

Strong computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Suite;

Proficiency in Social Media, Web Design, and Graphic Design is advantageous.

Ability to develop press releases, design promotional materials, and create presentations.

Must have reliable transportation for local travel and be available for occasional evening and weekend commitments within the community.
