Our team is seeking an Transportation Engineer for our Bureau of Field Services Team. We are looking for someone who can embrace the challenges of meeting our goals and exceeding the standards!

This position provides engineering services in the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Operations section in the Transportation System Management Operations (TSMO) Division. This position performs assignments in Congestion and Reliability including the development, analysis, and evaluation of safely optimizing traffic movements on Michigans state trunkline highway system. This position also supports the acquisition, analysis, evaluation, maintenance, and reporting of data pertaining to Traffic Incident Management (TIM) and the Michigan Traffic Incident Management Effort (Mi-TIME) training program.

The "Salary" listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate at the entry (9) level through the maximum rate at the advanced (12) level. Based on education and experience, candidates will be reviewed to determine what level they are qualified for.

Education

Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering.

Possession of a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering is preferred.

Experience

Transportation Engineer 9 No specific type or amount is required. Transportation Engineer 10 One year of professional engineering experience involved in transportation systems and programs equivalent to a Transportation Engineer 9. Transportation Engineer P11 Two years of professional engineering experience involved in transportation systems and programs equivalent to a Transportation Engineer, including one year equivalent to a Transportation Engineer 10. Transportation Engineer 12 Three years of professional engineering experience involved in transportation systems and programs equivalent to a Transportation Engineer, including one year equivalent to a Transportation Engineer P11. Transportation Engineer 9 - 12
Possession of a registered professional engineer license as required by the State of Michigan may be substituted for 6 months of experience at the Transportation Engineer 9-12 levels. This substitution may only be used once for any employee for qualification of appointment or early reclassification.
