We are seeking a highly skilled CAD Designer with Professional Engineer (PE) credentials and specialized experience in Life Safety and Electronic Security Systems . The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and reviewing complex system layouts for fire alarm, CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, and related technologies. This role requires both hands-on drafting expertise and the ability to provide engineering oversight to ensure designs meet applicable codes and client requirements. Key Responsibilities: Create and review detailed CAD drawings and system layouts for fire alarm, electronic security, and life safety systems. Provide engineering review and professional oversight to ensure design compliance with NFPA, NEC, IBC, and local jurisdictional codes. Stamp and seal engineering drawings as required for permitting and submittals. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to deliver accurate and code-compliant system designs. Lead design documentation efforts for submittal and permit packages, including riser diagrams, floor plans, device layouts, and system narratives. Maintain drawing version control and documentation standards. Support as-built documentation and revisions based on field changes or redlines. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers and CAD technicians. Participate in design review meetings and represent engineering deliverables in client-facing discussions. Qualifications: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) - required ; license must be in good standing and valid in Alabama. 4+ years of experience in CAD drafting and engineering for life safety and electronic security systems. Proficiency in AutoCAD (required); experience with Revit, Bluebeam, or other design tools is a plus. Strong understanding of applicable codes and standards (NFPA 72, NEC, IBC, etc.). Familiarity with leading manufacturers and platforms (e.g., Honeywell, Bosch, Autocall, Kidde, Genetec, Avigilon). Ability to interpret construction documents, specifications, and engineering notes. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Preferred Certifications: NICET Level II or higher in Fire Alarm Systems BICSI Certification or equivalent OSHA 10/30 safety training
