Mechanical Design Engineer - Gears

Mechanical Design Engineer Locations: Blairsville, PA Type: Direct Hire (Client Role) Overview: The role focuses on gear design, manufacturing process optimization, and cross-team collaboration to ensure quality and efficiency. Responsibilities: Design and optimize gear manufacturing processes (machining, hobbing, grinding, heat treat) Interpret engineering drawings and specs to meet quality standards Select tools, materials, and machines for gear production Design fixtures and tooling for manufacturing support Lead continuous improvement and Lean initiatives Collaborate with design, quality, and production teams to solve manufacturing issues Support root cause analysis and corrective actions Qualifications: Bachelor's in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or related field 5+ years in high-volume gear manufacturing Experience with heat treat recipes, metallurgy, and gear design Strong knowledge of gear types and cutting methods Proficient in CNC, CAD/CAM, and gear design software Lean manufacturing knowledge; Black Belt a plus Benefits- Competitive wage and benefits, including medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurances effective 1st day of employment.
