Job Summary
Provide technical advice, assistance, and training necessary for designing, constructing, operating, and maintaining pipelines, measurement, regulation, and related equipment. Provide detailed designs, estimates, and construction drawings for pipelines, measurement, regulation and related equipment. Collaborate with peers across NiSource and the industry to ensure effective technical solutions. Maintain strong communications and working relationships with various operating, engineering, and staff departments in an effort to provide needed technical support and direction.

Essential Functions
- Provide training and guidance to new and less experienced engineering personnel.
- Design largescale pipeline, measurement and regulation facilities in conformance with Company Standards, industry standards, and federal codes, including preparation of material quotes for measurement, regulation, and transmission facilities.
- Field visits to assess site conditions and provide technical guidance as part of the project design
- Support local engineering and operations personnel during and after normal work hours, as required, to provide technical assistance with troubleshooting equipment and material problems and developing solutions.
- Prepares and maintains standardized designs for regulation, measurement and transmission facilities and accompanying drawings.
- Promotes the necessary environment for effective customer satisfaction
- Develop and implement best practice opportunities for measurement, regulation and transmission designs.
- Maintain customer-focused working relationships with Engineering and Operations, actively seeking and incorporating feedback from internal stakeholders related to job performance and support.
- Assists with development of policies and procedures, evaluation of material and equipment, monitoring of industry trends, and recommends, justifies, and implements value-added technology, tools, and planning techniques to improve process and design results
- Participate in special assignments developing studies related to cost, facility design, work load, time studies, environmental concerns, facility failures, class location requirements, etc.
- Align individual objectives with department goals and projects, recommending best solution alternatives, to ensure that corporate needs and objectives are met, including awareness of impact that decisions make on operational plans and budgets.
- Attend training and conferences related to functions performed by the department
Required Qualifications For Position
Gas Systems Design Engineer 1
- Graduate from a four year ABET accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering program OR four year ABET accredited program with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology
- 1+ years of job relevant experience in related field
- Demonstrated experience with AutoCad and PC based applications
- Ability to travel 30% to 60% of time (depending on successful candidates location) within the NiSource footprint, including days in consecutive weeks
- Demonstrated project management capabilities
- DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Valid driver's license Upon Hire
Gas Systems Design Engineer 2
- Graduate from a four year ABET accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineeringprogram OR four year ABET accredited program with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology
- 2+ years of job relevant experience in related field.
- Demonstrated experience in practical application of AutoCAD and PC based applications

- DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Upon Hire
Senior Gas Systems Design Engineer
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology Degree from an ABET accredited program
- Successful completion of a balanced mix of courses in Measurement, Regulation, and related equipment design (courses may include, but are not limited to, those sponsored by IGT, manufacturers, natural gas industry associations, higher learning institutions or company)
- 5+ years relevant job experience in related field.
- Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD and PC based applications
- Ability to travel 30% to 60% of time (depending on successful candidates location) within the NiSource footprint, including days in consecutive weeks
- DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Upon Hire
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
- Master's Degree of Business Administration
- Successful completion of a balanced mix of courses in Measurement, Regulation, and related equipment design (courses may include, but are not limited to, those sponsored by IGT, manufacturers, natural gas industry associations, higher learning institutions or company)
- 4 years of operations experience in Engineering, Pipeline, Regulation, Measurement, Electronic
- Professional Engineering License (PE) Upon Hire

Salary Range*:
$67,900.00 - $165,300.00*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidates skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience , as well as internal pay equity .
