Substation Engineering Technician/Drafter

Job Description

You will perform engineering technician work requiring basic technical knowledge. You will utilize electronic applications, processes, standards, and document control procedures to create or modify deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Develop familiarity by reading, understanding, and maintaining a working knowledge of engineering standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, and policies.
  • Ensure that deliverables are accurate and compliant by understanding and adhering to the company's quality program.
  • Demonstrate personal accuracy and support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
  • Learn the applications required to modify less complex deliverables based on various design inputs.
  • Identify the needs of internal clients and gain a basic understanding of external clients' main interests and drivers.
  • Proactively seek and share knowledge of the latest technologies and processes.
Essential Skills
  • Working knowledge of Computer Automated Drafting Design (CADD) or other design or modeling skills.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering standards, systems, document control, and departmental guides.
  • Basic industry knowledge and technology trends.
  • Basic knowledge of the company quality program.
  • 3-5 years of experience in substation drafting.
  • Experience with drafting software such as AutoCAD SDS, AutoCAD Electrical, Microstation, or Inventor.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Preferred non-technical skills: Learning on the Fly, Problem Solving, Perseverance, Patience, Time Management, Drive for Results, Self Development, Listening, Informing.
  • Diploma or Certificate preferred.
  • Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of client standards.
Work Environment

Flexible hours, opportunities for advancement, and competitive pay. Hybrid schedule, 3 days in office, 2 days remote.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $38.00/hr.
