Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
Plan, lead, organize, and monitor capital and major maintenance projects consistent with NORPAC business goals
Conduct feasibility, scoping, planning, implementation, and commissioning phases of engineering projects
Manage engineering consulting personnel engaged in preparation of project scope and estimates, detail design, and equipment procurement for large projects
Perform basic mechanical and piping design as needed for small projects
Coordinate work with other engineers, operations, and maintenance on small and large projects
Specify and assist in procurement of equipment and materials
Learn and apply formal problem-solving techniques to improve process capability and product quality
Work with operations, maintenance, and management to solve daily safety, production, and quality issues
Participate and/or facilitate problem-solving task teams
Working knowledge of process piping and equipment (e.g. pressure vessels, pumps, pressing equipment, drying equipment, conveyers, and roll handling)
Other duties as assigned and identified
Required Qualifications and Key Skills:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and/or equivalent education/experience
Minimum of 7 years' experience in a manufacturing facility
Possess excellent skills in written and oral communication, time management, problem solving, conflict resolution and small task group facilitation
Demonstrated ability to develop cooperative working relationships between individuals and departments and a demonstrated ability to learn and continue to develop knowledge and skills base
Ability to prepare, analyze, and critique project financial justifications
Demonstrated ability in project management
Strong computer knowledge and skills that includes experience in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Flexible to meet changing business and team needs and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
Ability to excel with minimal supervision
Experience in supporting and leading both capital and major maintenance projects ranging in installed cost from $2 million to $100 million
Desirable:
Ten plus years of experience in a manufacturing facility with five plus years in the pulp and paper industry
Minimum of 2 years in a progressive leadership role
Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Project, and SAP
Experience working with non-traditional, high-performance work systems
Compensation:
Annual salary range for this position $100,000 to 130,000 depending on experience.
