Principal - Healthcare Mechanical Engineering Location: San Francisco, CA | Industry Leader in A/E Design Are you a senior mechanical engineer with a passion for healthcare design and a vision for leadership? An award-winning design firm is seeking a Principal-level Mechanical Engineer to drive its Healthcare Engineering practice in Northern California. This is a client-facing leadership role that combines technical excellence with business strategy. You'll help grow the healthcare market presence, shape design standards, and lead high-impact projects that prioritize innovation, sustainability, and integrated design. What You'll Do: Lead mechanical design for hospitals, ambulatory care centers, and medical office buildings Build and mentor a growing team of engineers and designers Partner with architecture and MEP leaders across the region Drive business development and deepen relationships with key healthcare clients Oversee design delivery, QA/QC, team resourcing, and financial performance What You Bring: 15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering (PE required) Deep expertise in healthcare MEP systems, codes (NFPA 99, ASHRAE 170, CA Building Code) Proven leadership in project delivery, client engagement, and business growth Strong understanding of sustainable design in healthcare environments Experience with Design-Build, IPD, or Design Assist preferred HFDP, LEED AP, or PMP is a plus Join a firm that's redefining healthcare environments for future generations through collaborative, forward-thinking design.
