About This Opportunity

As a Product Codes Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in identifying applicable code and regulatory requirements and securing both regional and global product approvals and third-party certifications. Your success will stem from applying your technical expertise across furniture, power distribution, lighting, and other products used in commercial and residential environments.

What You'll Do

You'll have opportunities to speak up, solve problems, lead others, and take ownership every day as you:

  • Obtain and maintain general product approvals, agency listings, and other certifications as required.
  • Analyze proposed and existing products for code compliance, summarize requirements, and implement conformity assessment plans.
  • Support customer and sales requests for code approval information and assist in critical customer situations involving code or standard compliance interpretations.
  • Recommend solutions to diverse technical and administrative code challenges to ensure timely product approvals and client satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with Project/Product Development teams to develop test plans, technical product descriptions, and design requirements that meet commercial building codes and standards.
  • Work with suppliers, consultants, and agencies to define and clarify design requirements, test targets, and approaches.
  • Coordinate and resolve noncompliance incidents to support customer needs.
  • Maintain and update a comprehensive set of requirements to ensure product safety, quality, and global market conformance.
  • Assess the impact of product changes or standard revisions on conformance status.
  • Document, summarize, and communicate the status of validation and conformance testing with project teams.
  • Identify and communicate product performance risks and initiate mitigation plans.
  • Provide technical product performance information to support business objectives.
  • Represent MillerKnoll at key national codes and regulatory organizations.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support business goals.

Sound Like You?

You might be a great fit if you have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of professional engineering experience.
  • A Professional Engineering (PE) license (preferred).
  • Knowledge of furniture standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with certification schemes (international CB Scheme experience preferred).
  • Understanding of building, fire, and electrical codes.
  • Experience with design requirements for commercial buildings (e.g., FCC, NEC, IBC).
  • Experience in furniture testing, measurement techniques, and related processes.
  • Knowledge of Lean principles and their application.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply engineering expertise effectively.
  • The ability to assess process concepts and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Effective communication skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in office automation and engineering-related software.
  • The ability to manage multiple complex projects with attention to detail.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and adapt to change.
  • A solid business sense and understanding of how decisions impact the organization.
  • Experience in product engineering, development, standards and testing, or codes administration.
  • The ability to perform all essential job functions with or without accommodations.
