Who We Are Looking For Phoenix Tailings is seeking a driven and experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to design and implement the power and control systems that drive our cutting-edge metal production processes. This role will be key to building and scaling the critical infrastructure that underpins our mission of clean, economic critical metal production. If you're passionate about advancing electrification and building the physical systems that enable a sustainable future, we want to hear from you. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and validate electrical systems for novel metal production technologies
- Specify and select electrical components, including motors, drives, sensors, PLCs, and power distribution hardware
- Develop wiring diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings for custom electrical enclosures and panels
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems across R&D and production sites
- Implement and enforce electrical safety standards and ensure all designs meet NEC and other relevant codes
- Evaluate and upgrade existing systems for performance, reliability, and scalability
- Interface directly with mechanical, chemical, and software engineering teams to integrate electrical systems
- Manage procurement and vendor relationships for electrical components and subsystems
- Contribute to the development of documentation, SOPs, and maintenance procedures for all systems
- Bachelor's or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 7+ years of hands-on experience designing and deploying industrial electrical systems
- Deep understanding of power systems, control circuitry, and instrumentation design
- Experience working with VFDs, PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.), and industrial communication protocols
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards including NEC, NFPA 70E, and UL standards
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with a hands-on, problem-solving mindset
- Proven track record of leading electrical projects from concept through execution
