Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior engineer with stormwater/drainage experience in our Seattle, WA office. This person will work alongside other talented individuals to support project teams throughout North America on proposals, planning, design, startup, and delivery tasks. The project delivery support ensures the best tools and systems framework are configured and deployed based on project requirements and company goals for innovation. The ideal candidate will be able to bring an entrepreneurial spirit to support a growing team by supporting services that include H&H modeling, FEMA compliance modeling, river hydraulics, culvert analysis, highway/roadway drainage, and rail corridor drainage.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with engineers and the design team to advance and complete a variety of project types.
  • Perform detailed design related to the various projects encountered as a stormwater engineer conducting H&H modeling, FEMA compliance modeling, river hydraulics, culvert analysis, highway/roadway drainage, grading, utility relocations, and rail corridor drainage;
  • Produce preliminary and final drawings in accordance with company and client standards while advancing the use of 3D modeling along with project site grading surfacing within the design team.
  • Coordinate with complimentary disciplines at a project level which may include members of the structural, electrical, mechanical, roadway, rails, and architectural team.
  • Produce project specifications in support of engineering design team.
  • Assist and coordinate with team members on construction activities such as shop drawing review.
  • Support design services during construction activities.
  • Produce spreadsheets that summarize quantities and estimated unit costs.

We invite applications from candidates with the following qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Civil, or Environmental, Engineering required
  • 6+ years of experience, with a focus on delivering stormwater projects.
  • Current PE license in the State of Colorado, or ability to obtain Colorado PE within one year of date of hire.
  • Proficient in plan development and design software including: AutoCAD Civil 3D, REVIT BIM, MicroStation InRoads / GeoPAK, and OpenRoads Designer.
  • Proficient in H&H modeling including; SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS and like software.
  • Experience in various project types: H&H modeling, FEMA compliance modeling, river hydraulics, culvert analysis, highway/roadway drainage, and rail corridor drainage.
  • Experience developing and supporting development of engineering drawings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and prioritize tasks in a logical order.
  • The ability to mentor and guide/assists junior engineers and professionals.
  • Opportunity to develop and mentor civil team of designers.
  • Strong verbal communication and time management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present effective technical reports.
  • Ability to follow a stringent QAQC processes.

The expected salary for this position is $140,000- $171,000

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
