Mechanical Design Engineer

A Mechanical Design Engineer is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Corning, NY area. This job responsible for designing, building, and commissioning industrial process equipment, providing hands-on support through installation and debug, while collaborating with cross-functional teams and managing vendor and safety compliance.

responsibilities:

• Understand design requirements through close work with internal project team
  
  
• Independently develop solutions and approaches
  
  
• Oversee installation and debugging at the factory site
  
  
• Provide hands-on support for equipment install and troubleshooting
  
  
• Validate equipment build and layout against design drawings
  
  
• Coordinate install plans ensuring safety compliance and alignment with plant expectations
  
  
• Work with internal engineers and external vendors to resolve discrepancies

Requirements:

• 10+ years of mechanical equipment design experience
  
  
• Proficient in SolidWorks
  
  
• Skilled in structural FEA analysis
  
  
• Experience with designing, installing, starting up, and debugging industrial equipment
  
  
• Ability to manage mechanical and electrical trades during install/debug
  
  
• Knowledge of machine guarding and safety standards (e.g., OSHA)
  
  
• strong written and oral communication skills
  
  
• Effective at collaborating with diverse teams
