Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, passionate technician to join our team and help build flight-critical components for our VTOL electric aircraft. Responsibilities- Work hand in hand with engineers to develop processes and tools in support of prototype builds and rapid design iteration
- Assemble hardware for use on test stands or in aircraft while maintaining associated documentation; this will involve mechanical assembly of parts and sub-systems, etc. focused on propeller systems and actuation systems
- Assist in setup and execution of development tests
- Manage the day to day operation and troubleshooting of automated test equipment
- Fabricate and assemble fixtures in support of prototype assembly and test execution
- Instrumentation of test articles (i.e. thermocouples, strain gauges, etc.) and support calibration and data capture during test
- Support training of production technicians during manufacturing transition and first article build
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain high standards of work
- Strong work ethic and team oriented attitude
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving techniques and analytical ability
- Ability to read and understand schematics
- Experience with mechanical component assembly and systems integration of mechanical systems
- Proficiency with machining, welding, and overall mechanical craftsmanship
- 15% travel, mostly domestic. Some international travel may be required
- Previous experience as NPI (new product introduction) or engineering technician
- Experience working on high voltage systems and/or complex electromechanical systems
- Experience with instrumentation
- Familiarity with CAD, PLM/PDM systems
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $44-$50/hr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
