GENERAL PURPOSE
Analyze and interpret product information from different sources in order to develop generic bill of material concepts and manage the creation of generic bills of material. Support NPC teams in the development and implementation of new product
item masters and bills of material. Assist personnel with an understanding of the database operating system.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in developing and establishing the 'rules' to support the construction of item masters, bills of material and routings.
  • Coordinate the interface with New Product Development, the configuration software and Marketing on methods to develop system information for New Product Development programs.
  • Create and maintain dem flows for database processes within the manufacturing operational system.
  • Develop spreadsheets of unique data per product line for generic bill of material.
  • Establish the engineering/manufacturing system information (item masters and bills of material) to support the NPC process.
  • Interface between product engineering, manufacturing engineering and configuration software to develop a vocabulary spreadsheet of data for the development of generic/static bills of material and routings on new products and product changes.
  • Leverage knowledge of the current operating system.
  • Maintain item masters and bills of material through the ECO process.
  • Manage and maintain feature/option table.
  • Manage and maintain product line tables in operating system.
  • Manage the cleanup, deletion, verification, and accuracy of data in the operating system.
  • Represent database in the New Product Commercialization (NPC) process and communicate necessary information and requirements.
  • Test and validate data structures and logic between the Configuration and Operating Systems.
  • Test and validate the production bills of material and routings with existing and future engineering/manufacturing operation systems.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Education/Experience

  • Minimum two-year college degree or equivalent technical experience with emphasis in production, inventory control, or database systems
  • Minimum two years' experience working with bills of material

Skills and Abilities

  • Maintain contact with internal customers: manufacturing engineering, product engineering, configuration modelers, inventory control, finance, purchasing, information technology group, and order entry
  • Thorough understanding of the operating system currently in place
    Data processing capabilities
  • Working knowledge of computer software (Lotus Notes, BaaN, Access, PowerBuilder, Excel)
  • Willing to accept new responsibilities
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
