This Key Team Leader manages all aspects of the design process, from research to conceptual and final design, and through construction. This position provides on-the-job training to enhance the core competence of team members. This position leads project teams towards successful adoption of new design ideas and possesses a strong mastery of design fundamentals. This position is expected to be able to work on multiple projects concurrently and deliver on expectations within tight deadlines. In addition to leading a team of engineers and technical professionals, this position will also be actively involved in professional associations and community organizations as Pape-Dawson continues building partnerships within the community we serve.
This position is responsible for a wide variety of transportation related projects that may include schematic development; urban and rural roadway design; freeway and interchange design; hydraulics and hydrology; signalization; rights of way coordination and management; and public safety improvements.
Responsibilities
Lead project teams to accomplish task assignments in accordance with federal, state and local guidelines
Provide guidance and direction to project design team for various tasks within the scope of a project including training and supervising project team
Lead multi-discipline consultant teams in project development and design
Develop innovative design techniques, tools, and project delivery methods
Present new ideas and techniques to clients and stakeholders
Manage project budget and schedule; monitor quality control methods
Proposal development, project scoping, and client relationship development
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
Provide technical direction or supervision to junior engineers, engineering or computer-aided design (CAD) technicians, or other technical personnel.
Attend design review meetings and interact with clients
Providing leadership in these daily activities, among others, will continue the Pape-Dawson vision of becoming the most respected engineering firm in our geographic and technical areas of practice.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in civil or transportation engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of Georgia or the ability to obtain in 6 months.
15 years multi-discipline experience in roadway design and PS&E.
GDOT experience preferred.
Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with all levels of employees in an organization.
Self-starter capable of completing tasks with minimal oversight.
High level of accuracy in work product.
Ability to technically develop members of project team.
