JOB SUMMARY:

  • The Electrical Engineering Supervisor provides leadership within the Controls, Electrical and Technician Engineering team; serving the team by planning, managing, and monitoring Design Engineering functions, ensuring projects are completed on time and with a high level of quality, while creating an energetic and positive work environment.

ESSENTIAL LEADERSHIP DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures a safe work environment by enforcing, educating, and coaching others to follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Supervises others within the Controls, Electrical and Mechatronic Engineering team; including providing work direction, developing SMART goals, completing performance reviews, recommending merit increases and developing improvement plans as required
  • Facilitates timely team meetings, individual 1 on 1's, project and business critical meetings to encourage collaboration and to build a strong, highly technical team
  • Interview candidates, recommend hires and facilitates onboarding of new team members.
  • Facilitates the establishment, maintenance and improvement of standards regarding Controls and Electrical Engineering products and processes
  • Provides Controls and Electrical design recommendations and technical support on Controls and Electrical Engineering processes, project design reviews, and organizational strategic plans
  • Ensures on-time project completion by collaborating with other leaders to estimate reasonable schedules and project success by helping solve problems quickly and takes part in the formal review process of each machine prior to release from Engineering.
  • Assists with resource allocation including budgeting, staffing, and scheduling
  • Assists with management of quality, validation and evaluation processes
  • Work with members of the design team in studying and developing new concepts.
  • Involved in each project within the design team to help them solve design problems throughout a project's life cycle.
  • Develop proactive working relationships with all other departments to address shared problems and generate "win-win" solutions.
  • Supports the design criteria outlined in the customer and machine specification documents, including mechanical criteria that may affect the electrical, pneumatic or controls design
  • Must be able and willing to travel to customers, training, meetings, and conferences as required. Travel up to 10%.

ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Authority in all Douglas electrical standards including engineering and assembly standards, national codes (NEC, NFPA79, UL508A), and any other applicable standards and code.
  • The primary deliverables of the Controls Design team include the creation of all required machine programs/code including PLC, HMI, and coordinated motion for projects.
  • The primary deliverables of the Electrical Design team include electrical and pneumatic schematics and drawings that are used to assemble and install the electrical control system for projects.
  • The primary deliverables of the Technician Design team include concepting, mechanical and electrical construction of the machine, startup, debug, test, validation, installation, and commissioning phase for projects.
