Role

We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced and results oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Global Engineering Design Services department within Worldwide Engineering and Construction. This position will work with local design teams to lead the execution of mechanical engineering scope of work. As the Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the mechanical engineering scope for various capital projects during Pre-FEED, FEED and Detail Design phases to ensure their successful completion. Your expertise in mechanical engineering principles and practices will be crucial in leading a team of peer engineers and driving innovation in our organization.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement project specific mechanical engineering execution plans to ensure efficient and effective project execution.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, including all engineering disciplines, project managers, operations, and procurement, to ensure seamless project integration and successful project delivery.
Lead and manage the execution of mechanical engineering scope of work in all phases (Pre-FEED, FEED and Detail Design).
Monitors and reports actual progress and forecasting/check for discipline activities, including management of labor hours and delivered documents.
Lead the design and selection of stationary and rotating equipment considering factors such as safety, reliability, maintainability, cost, and schedule.
Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
Apply industry codes and standards relevant to the chemical industry, such as ASME, API, ANSI, and other applicable codes, in the design and evaluation of mechanical systems and equipment.
Oversee the procurement of mechanical equipment, ensuring adherence to project requirements and specifications.
Conduct thorough reviews and quality control checks to ensure compliance with design specifications and project requirements.
Utilize engineering design and management software tools and applications to support mechanical engineering activities and enhance project efficiency.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited university.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in Mechanical engineering field with focus on the chemical industry.
Good written, listening and verbal communication skills.
Proven experience in influencing teams of engineers with excellent leadership and communication skills.
Familiarity with capital stage gate process and understanding of project execution.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to propose innovative and practical engineering solutions.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of safety regulations and standards related to mechanical engineering in the chemical industry.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
