Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer - RF Components
Job Summary:
Our client in San Dimas, CA is looking for a Sr Mechanical Engineer. This is a Direct Hire position.
We are looking for a detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of mechanical solutions for packaging electronics and RF components in high-power, high-frequency RF amplifiers. Reporting to the Mechanical Design Engineering Manager, this role involves working within a multidisciplinary team to design ruggedized enclosures for commercial, military, and airborne environments, as well as developing tooling and harness designs. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and expertise in mechanical design are essential.
What you get to do:
Solid modeling (2D/3D CAD) parts, assemblies, and drawings using SolidWorks
Drawing and Bill of Material submission for release in PLM system (Agile)
Responsible for thermal analysis of electronics cooling using SolidWorks Simulation (FEA) and SolidWorks Flow Simulation (CFD) and reporting.
Responsible for structural analysis of assemblies to meet MIL-STD-810F & RTCA/DO-160G environments and reporting.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar discipline from an ABET accredited school.
Must have minimum 10 years' experience in SolidWorks or other modeling programs, experience with SolidWorks PDM, FEA and CFD is a plus.
Strong drafting skills including ASME Y14.5M standards and understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) standards.
Strong design for manufacturing (DFM) knowledge, must be hands-on and be able to work with minimal supervision.
A vast knowledge of manufacturing processes focusing on machining, sheet metal, and injection molding.
Materials and metal finishing design and knowledge and practices
Familiar with IPC standards and PCB layout standards and practices for electrical assemblies.
Familiar with document release practices using PLM Software. History with Agile is a plus.
Great computer literacy, proficient with Microsoft office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Etc.
Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
Able to be detail focused and multi-task well in a fast-paced working environment
Familiarly with AS9100 practices.
