Electrical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing electrical systems that support our internal parts manufacturing and system contract manufacturing. This role requires expertise in industrial automation, power systems, and motion control.

Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):

Electrical System Design & Maintenance

  • Design and implement test fixtures to validate function of electrical components, final test cycling, debug x/y stage motion control, system communication failures.
  • Develop and maintain electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using CAD software
  • Specify and procure electrical components, motors, drives, and control devices
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical issues on production equipment to minimize downtime

Automation & Process Control

  • Program and configure PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms) for manufacturing process control
  • Design and implement HMI systems for operator interfaces and process monitoring
  • Integrate vision systems, robotics, and automated material handling equipment

Power Systems & Infrastructure

  • Design and maintain facility electrical distribution systems, transformers, and motor control centers
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes (NEC, NFPA 70E) and safety standards
  • Manage power quality issues and implement energy efficiency improvements
  • Coordinate electrical installations and modifications with contractors

Manufacturing Support

  • Collaborate with production teams to optimize machine performance and cycle times
  • Support new product launches by modifying electrical systems for different manufacturing methods
  • Participate in equipment installations, relocations, and facility expansions
  • Develop preventive maintenance programs for electrical equipment

Technical Documentation & Compliance

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and training materials
  • Ensure compliance with industrial safety standards and environmental regulations
  • Conduct electrical safety audits and implement corrective actions
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing projects

Essential Skills:

  • Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley RSLogix, Siemens TIA Portal, or equivalent)
  • Experience with LabView
  • Knowledge of variable frequency drives, servo systems, and motor control
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus)
  • CAD software experience (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar)
  • Program management expertise with ability to coordinate multiple priorities
  • Strong decision-making and communication skills
  • Interest in helping and working with customers
  • Ability to present to customers with confidence
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and CRM systems
  • Analytical skills for account planning and problem resolution
  • Ability to work in manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, and moving machinery
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces when required
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime and respond to emergency calls

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial electrical engineering, preferably in manufacturing
  • Experience with motion controls
