What You Will Do
As the Watershed Restoration Engineer, you will provide technical oversight for the completion of stormwater improvement projects to help restore local waterways as part of the Carroll County NPDES MS4 Permit. You will use your engineering expertise to manage restoration projects and ensure NPDES permit compliance. The work you do will support County agencies, municipalities and citizens within the goals and objectives of the Department.
Essential Duties
- Coordinate and oversee engineering contracts for restoration projects.
- Manage construction of restoration projects
- Utilize GIS to identify potential restoration projects for NPDES permit compliance.
- Conduct field investigations to verify site conditions and determine feasibility of restoration projects.
- Apply principles and practices of engineering, hydrology, hydraulics, limnology, and fluvial geomorphology for evaluation, design, and construction of watershed restoration projects.
- Apply principles, practices, laws, and regulations for watershed restoration management.
- Present to Board of County Commissioners and state/local/municipal agencies on watershed restoration projects. Provide project information and reports during public meetings.
- Compile complex data from multiple sources to create reports, spreadsheets, and other documents. Analyze and interpret data.
- Foster collaboration and provide learning opportunities. Facilitate a supportive work environment.
- Independently ensure all work is complete and timely to achieve department goals. Review work of others to ensure that organizational standards are met.

- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field
- Three or more years of related experience
- A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirement.
Required Licenses and Certifications
