Job Overview\:
Responsible for all technical consultation related to the development of the Sprinter for the South American Market with a major focus on\:
Representing R&D headquarter functions to the development support team in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Coordination of all development related tasks regarding the cooperation in between Mercedes-Benz and Production Plant Argentina (Prestige Auto/ formerly Mercedes-Benz Argentina)
Undertake and lead all activities regarding vehicle parts before serial production and for parts changes during serial production including engineering change evaluation, deviation permit creation and timely implementation of engineering changes.
Technical support of the development team in Argentina regarding development issues and production quality topics
Responsibilities\:
Serve as the development point of contact to the Development Team in Argentina for all technical topics of the Sprinter
Review and process engineering changes related to new-product development and series changes, including technical feasibility with the current Sprinter and production line in Argentina, analysis and reporting of the urgency and requirement of the change(s), verify documentation for completeness and suitability for the Sprinter and production location, and analysis of supply chain timing. Ensure creation of countermeasures where necessary and coordinate timely implementation.
Track and report series changes impacting the Argentina Plant to Development Management, highlighting complex and critical changes, ensuring countermeasures are implemented where risks are present
Create, review and support implementation of deviation permits for technical issues related to the Sprinter, ensuring limited deployment (duration) and creation of solutions/countermeasures where necessary.
Management and tracking of all active deviation permits implemented in the Argentina Plant, reporting actively deployed deviations to Development Management
Support creation and evaluation of technical risk analysis for field topics and internal vehicle campaigns, reporting initiation of new campaigns to the Charleston Development Manager
Support of technical problem solving as a development representative, working together with the development team in Argentina, reporting active problem-solving efforts to the Charleston Development Manager
Review and approval of torque capability studies, supporting process validation of critical vehicle torques
Provide evaluation as development representative for PPAP submissions from suppliers
Close collaboration with Development Project Lead for new product development/releases, creating and tracking engineering changes and reporting with the Project Lead to central development.
Coordinate and evaluate annual model year changes related to the Sprinter, tracking overall model year changes, implementation of new parts, ensure required testing is completed on time, and reporting significant KPIs and milestone completion to the Central Development Team.
Support Argentina Development Team with certification activities related to vehicle emissions (i.e. production of certification vehicles, monitoring and ensuring availability of required hardware and related software, tracking and reporting testing and validation, etc.), keeping Development Management aware of certification activities and adherence to project milestones
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements\:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering + 5 years of related work experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience (i.e. Masters Degree + 3 years of experience)
Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes
Detailed knowledge of design and development processes including engineering changes
Strong experience in 3D CAD, vehicle part documentation and change management
Complete vehicle experience (Automotive body-in-white/Powertrain/Electrical Engineering)
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Strong commitment, assertiveness, intercultural sensibility and a team orientated mindset
Proactive, open minded and agile work approach
English\: Business fluent

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC (MBV) is a plant in Ladson, South Carolina that assembles Sprinter vans for the U.S. and Canadian market under the brands Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner. The midsize Mercedes-Benz Metris vans are also reassembled at this location.
Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC has invested more than 500 million U.S. dollars in the new Sprinter plant, which officially opened in 2018. Today the MBV facility provides more than 1,600 jobs and supports at least 600 additional jobs in the region through its suppliers. More than 200,000 Sprinter and Metris vans have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations across the U.S. since 2006. Therefore, MBV celebrates a 15-year legacy of SKD production in 2021. The U.S. is the second largest market for Sprinter vans, after Germany.
