GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager to work in a part-time, hybrid capacity—up to 20 hours per week, with 2 days on-site at the Ohio Department of Health in Columbus, Ohio. This position requires candidates to be located within commuting distance of Columbus and offers the opportunity to lead vital records modernization projects in collaboration with local and state public health entities.
Position Overview
As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating large-scale public health and vital statistics projects. You will work closely with IT and business teams to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of project milestones, provide strategic leadership across workstreams, and serve as a key liaison between executive stakeholders, local health departments, and vendors.
ResponsibilitiesLead and manage large-scale projects involving both IT and business stakeholders, with a focus on public health and vital records systems.
Oversee project workstreams, including planning, execution, and delivery of technical and business-related tasks.
Serve as the primary liaison for executive leadership, providing high-level project updates, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations.
Ensure clear communication and coordination between Ohio’s Local Health Departments and the State regarding birth and death certificate services.
Manage vendor relationships and performance to ensure deliverables meet project standards and timelines.
Use project management best practices to track progress, mitigate risks, and ensure quality outcomes.
Coordinate integration and data exchange using APIs, particularly with Mulesoft and the Innovate Ohio Platform (IOP).
Work with the Innovation Ohio Platform (IOP) to manage public health data exchange and system integration with state agencies.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience managing large IT and business projects across complex organizations.
Direct experience working with a government Vital Statistics department, with familiarity in vital records processes and systems.
Deep understanding of Ohio Local Health Departments’ role in issuing vital records (birth and death certificates).
Experience managing public health data exchange via the Innovation Ohio Platform (IOP).
Strong communication and leadership skills, especially in managing executive stakeholder relationships.
Proficiency in project management methodologies, including planning, scheduling, risk management, and reporting.
Preferred Experience
Experience working with Mulesoft or similar APIs for public sector data integration.
Familiarity with Ohio public health IT applications and legacy system modernization.
PMP or other relevant project management certification.
Prior consulting or leadership roles on part-time or hybrid public sector initiatives.
