Job Description

As a Hydraulic Engineer, you will be tasked with designing, developing, and maintaining hydraulic systems, specifically focusing on control aspects to ensure smooth and efficient operation of mobile drill rigs and drilling products. This role is vital due to the addition of five new drill rigs to the product line, driving the need for expansion. You will be responsible for integrating hydraulic systems with other mechanical and electrical components, as well as troubleshooting and optimizing performance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain hydraulic control systems for mobile drill rigs and related equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Read, interpret, and create hydraulic schematics to support system design and troubleshooting.
  • Track and maintain hose routings, lengths, and fittings for existing products to ensure consistency and reliability.
  • Contribute to multiple design and control projects simultaneously, showcasing strong multitasking and organizational skills.
  • Collaborate with production and service teams to implement, test, and troubleshoot hydraulic systems in both new and legacy products.
  • Follow engineering standards and documentation protocols to ensure quality and traceability.

Essential Skills

  • 1-3 years of experience in hydraulic schematic design and interpretation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Physics.
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling, with Solid Edge preferred.
  • Background in fluid mechanics.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with load sense hydraulics.
  • Experience working within production and collaborating with production staff.
  • Courses taken in fluid dynamics or physics.

Work Environment

The company is a third-generation family-owned business that manufactures the Versa-Drill brand of water well, geothermal, exploration, and shallow oil/gas drilling rigs and equipment. Founded in 1962, the company is located in downtown Indianapolis and employs 35 people. The work hours are from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM ET, Monday through Friday, with the potential for overtime upon becoming a full-time employee. The engineering team consists of six members, including previous consultants, and is dedicated to designing reliable equipment capable of working in tough conditions with the latest technologies. This role promises a fast-paced design and manufacturing process, offering exciting challenges and opportunities to innovate and meet company goals. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $43.27/hr.
