Come work with multidisciplinary engineers focused on delivering world class Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE). You will be responsible for the design solutions that support all the missions that Lockheed Martin Space supports. This includes everything needed to assemble, test, transport, store, and launch the various spacecraft we build. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work across multiple teams responsible for the development, design, fabrication, test, and delivery of MGSE. Job responsibilities include:
- Independently develop mechanical design solutions of varying complexity using solid models, detailed drawings, and release of engineering work products.
- Review requirements from various sources (stress, dynamics, systems, thermal, manufacturing, etc.) to ensure that applicable requirements are flowed into the detailed design of assigned products.
- Collaborate with peers, configuration management, and manufacturing to ensure program requirements and schedules are met.
- Contribute to the completion of Program achievements by the release of accurate, error-free, affordable and producible engineering designs.
The ideal candidate will have good communications skills (both oral and written) and a background in Mechanical Engineering processes. A willingness to travel is required.Qualified candidate will have or be able to:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline.
- Considered experienced, but still a learner.
- Demonstrated understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including structures, mechanisms, materials and analysis.
- Mechanical design and/or manufacturing experience that includes the use of interpretation of engineering design drawings.
- Familiarity with engineering CAD tools (Creo, I-DEAS, etc.) and model based product definition.
- Candidate must have the ability to work in an environment with evolving requirements and dynamic schedules.
- Candidate must have good oral, written, and presentation communication skills.Desirable candidate will have or be able to:
- Manufacturing and ATLO experience.
- Working knowledge of industry standards and federal regulations including ANSI, OSHA, and AWS standards applicable to mechanical and structural systems. Experience should include a working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME Y14.5.
- Working Knowledge of EPDM.
- Knowledge of LM Space command media.
- Active Secret Clearance.
