Job Summary

Part of a larger team delivering high quality technology solutions to the business. Design, develop and install software solutions. Build high-quality, innovative and fully performing software in compliance with internal architecture, development & design standards & best practices. Design, modify, develop, write, implement and troubleshoot software programming applications. Support and/or install software applications. Participate in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software. Works within a Waterfall or Agile methodology/framework based team. Collaborates heavily with Project Management, Business Analyst and Infrastructure Job Families.

Job Description

What You'll Do:

• Support various vendor-supplied applications for AEP's Generation Fleet (Fossil, Hydro, Renewables, SMR), including engineering design applications, continuous monitoring, safety solutions, and clearance and lockout/tagout solutions.

• Learn new technologies and drive their implementation.

• Build trusting relationships and collaborate across teams, system integrators, and job families to accomplish complex goals.

• Provide on-call support after hours (24/7) as needed.

• Generate documentation for infrastructure support and evaluate/propose process improvements.

• Maintain extensive knowledge of the company's software and hardware products.

• Provide training, mentoring, and work direction to team members.

What We're Looking For:

Solution Engineer Senior (SG7):

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.

Experience: 5 years of relevant work experience is required.

An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be

considered.

Solution Engineer Principal (SG8):

Education : Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.

Experience: 7 years relevant work experience is required.

An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Nice-to-have:

Experience:

• Understanding and troubleshooting of WAN and VPN concepts.

• Familiarity with both cloud and on-premise hosting models.

• Strong knowledge and experience with SQL and Oracle databases.

• Ability to configure and support various vendor-supplied applications.

• Intermediate scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Java, etc.).

• Strong knowledge of both physical and virtual Windows and Linux servers.

• Experience in engineering or within generation plants is a plus

Location: Prefer candidate to live within 50 miles of Columbus, OH

Solution Engineer Principal (SG8): $96,110.00-124,940.00
