Title: Mechanical Engineer
Location: Chillicothe, IL
Details: 12-month contract with ongoing need, opportunity for direct hire
Pay Rate: $47.00 - 51.00/hr. with benefit inclusions
Job Summary
The Mechanical Engineer will support the design and detailing of motor and resistor grid systems. This role contributes to the engineering team by delivering CAD-based designs, conducting teardown analyses, and supporting new projects through research and development. The engineer will work in a highly collaborative environment with regular team interactions and meetings.
Responsibilities
Provide CAD design and detailing for motor and resistor grid components
Conduct teardown follow-ups and failure analyses
Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test mechanical devices including tools, engines, and machines
Analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to assess feasibility
Investigate equipment failures and recommend corrective actions
Assist drafters in developing structural designs using engineering tools and software
Years of Experience and Education
Bachelor's degree in Engineering required
Master's degree in Engineering will be considered
Minimum 5 years of total engineering experience
At least 3 years of detailing experience
Skills Required
Proficiency in CAD design and detailing
Strong Excel computation skills
Ability to create sketches, engineering drawings, and perform common computations
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and reports
Experience with Teamcenter and Creo
Technical Skills (Desired):
Prior experience with Caterpillar (1E specs, etc.)
FEA analysis
EM/Thermal motor analysis
CFD analysis
Background in rotating component/structural design
Soft Skills (Required):
Strong verbal and written communication
High initiative and self-motivation
Analytical and problem-solving abilities
Detail oriented and team focused
