Basic Job Functions:The following responsibilities reflect the dynamic and integral role of the Structural Engineering Manager in shaping the success and safety culture at Nucor. Your duties will include, but arent limited to :
- Lead the Engineering Team: Oversee daily activities, ensuring engineering projects are completed on time with high quality.
- Team Development and Mentoring: Actively engage in the professional growth of team members through training, mentoring, and thorough performance evaluations. Make recommendations for compensation adjustments.
- Policy and Procedure Oversight: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive engineering policies, procedures, and practices that uphold our commitment to quality and safety.
- Budget and Staffing Management: Manage staffing needs and budgetary allocations for supplies and equipment. Oversee wage planning to ensure fairness and motivation within the team.
- Recruitment and Hiring: Coordinate with HR to execute recruitment strategies, conduct interviews, and make informed hiring decisions that contribute to the strength and diversity of the team.
- Strategic Planning: Forecast and plan for the Engineering Groups future, ensuring readiness and adaptability to meet evolving market demands.
- Benchmarking and Improvement: Engage with other divisions within Nucor to benchmark and adopt best practices, enhancing operational results and customer satisfaction.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor of Science in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering from an ABET Accredited school.
- 2 years of leadership experience leading a team of multiple individuals.
- 5 years of engineering experience in or related to structural engineering.
- P.E. and/or S.E. Registration.
- 2 years of metal building industry experience.
