**THE POSITION**
**Sr. Staff Electrical Engineer, Continental Automotive Systems, Inc., Auburn Hills, MI:**
Lead environmental, electrical, and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) validation tests for automotive products. Ensure Engineering Change Requests comply with electrical design specifications. Analyze complex parametric and thermal data using statistical tools. Develop and implement action plans to resolve identified issues and improve product performance. Engage professionally with suppliers and customers to understand and align on technology roadmaps. Provide technical insights and gather feedback for continuous improvement. Participate in global engineering projects, sharing expertise through technical reports and presentations. Mentor entry-level engineers in technical skills, professional development, and communication. Assist in the introduction, launch, and ramp-up of products in the factory. Conduct Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) for ongoing product maintenance and improvement. Evaluate and communicate complex technical issues, generating lessons learned and best practices. Lead the development of safety concepts within the hardware team, adhering to ISO 26262 standards. Complete project tasks, ensuring timely delivery of milestones while managing budget impacts. Oversee quotation processes, development phases, and failure analysis for complex issues. Coordinate tasks among project team members, focusing on the design and development of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) for specific functional areas. Drive resolution of significant technical problems.
Telecommuting permitted up to 40%.
Full time employment, Monday -- Friday, 40 hours per week.
**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:**
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate, related work experience.
Must have 5 years of experience in each of the following:
- Automotive electronics design, specifically in power supply circuit design, DC-DC converters, and headlamp concepts;
- Engineering problem-solving techniques, design methods, worst-case analysis, and design-to-cost analysis;
- Microcontroller-based and digital circuit design;
- Designing analog circuits;
- Designing power supply circuits, including Boost and Buck DC-DC converters;
- Designing circuit blocks related to the activation of front and rear automotive LED lighting;
- Performing EE testing using equipment including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, signal generators, power analyzers, EMC transient rack and active loads;
- Performing worst-case circuit analysis using simulations programs (including PSPICE, SABER and LTSPICE) and MathCAD;
- Using electronic schematic capture, including Zuken, Mentor and Altium;
- Troubleshooting and solving problems in EE design, manufacturing and component defects;
- Supporting EMC validation, including FMC1278(Ford) and GMW3097(GM) specifications;
- Configuration and change management tools, including IMS, MKS, DOORS, JIRA, GIT, and Perforce; and
- Creating hardware and software interface specifications.
