Our LA office is seeking a Bridge Engineer with experience in railroad, highway and pedestrian bridge design and to support our infrastructure and rail activities in the region. The hired candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of engineers.

The Opportunity

  • Preliminary and detailed design of new bridges, culverts, retaining walls and other civil structures
  • Preliminary and detailed rehabilitation design of existing bridges, culverts and retaining walls
  • Inspection of existing bridges, culverts and retaining walls and preparation of reports
  • Analysis and design of structural systems and components using industry standard structural design software, including seismic design criteria, and preparation of formal design calculation packages
  • Preparation of drawing markups for CAD production and review of CAD drawings
  • Preparation of construction specifications and tender documentation
  • Quantity calculations and cost estimating
  • Technical reports and proposal writing
  • Attend meetings with client to present deliverables, review design issues and carry out overall project coordination
  • Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines
  • Project and team administration duties
  • Commercial / financial awareness
  • Work on defined tasks under the close supervision of a senior engineer

Is this role right for you?

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Licensed or on track for licensure as a Professional Engineer
  • 4+ years of experience with prior work done on infrastructure/bridge projects
  • Design experience with applicable bridge design codes, notably CHBDC and AREMA
  • Experience with the design of new bridges, rehabilitation of existing structures, and overall understanding of bridge engineering practice and current technologies
  • Working knowledge of MTO manuals, policies and procedures and OPSS/D; experience with CPS would be an asset
  • Proficiency with structural design and analysis software with bridge engineering applications; experience with MIDAS and Advance Design would be an asset
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience in OSIM inspections and/or construction supervision would be an asset
  • Rail and/or Highway related design experience would be an asset
  • Strong communication skills essential for team-based working
  • Motivated and willing to take on new challenges

Los Angeles Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Los Angeles is $90,000 to $95,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Los Angeles will differ.
