Eaton's Electrical Group is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Richmond, VA facility. Relocation assistance is available for this role!

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for mechanical design and development of product lines and prototype production. This role plays a key part in a cross-functional team, driving critical design decisions to ensure seamless integration and design excellence. Responsible for ensuring compliance with engineering standards and codes, the Senior Mechanical Engineer researches, evaluates, and refines design methods, and drives implementation of necessary changes to achieve project goals.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $83,250 - $122,100 a year.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate with Electrical and Mechanical Engineers to identify relevant industry standards and compliance requirements impacting product design.
  • Support product certification planning and testing process while working with relevant Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs).
  • Support Production during cost/design for manufacturing analysis (DFMEA / DFSS).
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineers to optimize assembly and testing processes.
  • Continuously update your knowledge by staying current with all relevant UL, IEEE, IEC, CSA, and DOE standards

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited institution with minimum three (3) years of experience in mechanical design OR a Master's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution with minimum one (1) year of experience in mechanical design

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing products from concept to manufacturing launch.

Skills:

  • In depth knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) techniques.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing concepts and test operations.
  • Ability to understand the needs of the business and ability to make wise decisions to maintain customer satisfaction and Eaton quality and profitability.
  • Mentor - can work with less experienced engineers to provide meaningful feedback about design implications.
  • Ability to work autonomously and shift to a team environment and the ability to work with other teams within Eaton.
  • Perform work with a sense of urgency and high attention to detail.
  • Communication - discuss technical concepts and information to internal staff/peers and stakeholders, strong verbal and written documentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
