Principal Mechanical Engineer - Water Sector Location: Manchester (Hybrid Working Available) J ob Type: Full-Time | Permanent We are working with a leading engineering services provider supporting major UK water infrastructure projects. They are looking to appoint a Principal Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in delivering innovative design solutions across water and wastewater treatment schemesfrom concept design through to construction support. Key Responsibilities: Lead and deliver mechanical design across a range of water sector projects Ensure compliance with client requirements, industry standards, and CDM regulations Produce and review detailed design documents, technical layouts, and specifications Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting knowledge-sharing and team development Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to ensure cohesive project delivery Requirements: Degree, HND, or HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or similar discipline) Significant experience in water industry projects, including clean/wastewater, sludge handling, pumping, and dosing systems Proven experience in mechanical design delivery Strong technical knowledge of PFDs, equipment layouts, datasheets, and pump system calculations Chartered status (or working towards Chartered status) is highly desirable
