A Day in the Life of a Transportation Engineer - PM
Youll help plan and design multimodal transportation projects ranging from urban streetscapes to signature trails. Using tools like AutoCAD or MicroStation, youll produce high-quality construction documents and support projects through all phases, from concept development and public engagement, feasibility studies and concept plans to permitting and construction management. In projects, you will often serve as Project Manager, leading a team of designers, planners, and engineers to develop successful project solutions. Youll work closely with clients, communities, and a supportive team across the Midwest and North America to deliver infrastructure that makes a difference. The work can be fast-paced and challenging, but youll be supported by a passionate, tight-knit team thats deeply committed to each other and the communities we serve.
We are targeting a salary range of $88,500 to $105,000 for this position. * For candidates with a PE, the targeted range starts at $98,500.
Work Schedule for a Transportation Engineer - PM
This full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours per week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home up to 2 days per week. The Columbus office of Toole Design opened in 2018 and is conveniently located in downtown Columbus on Broad Street, across from Capitol Square. The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, via transit, or by car.

RequirementsQualifications of a Transportation Engineer - PM:
- Bachelor's or Masters degree in civil engineering
- Professional Engineering license preferred
- 5+ years of experience
- Experience and interest in managing projects or major project tasks
- A broad knowledge base in civil engineering with a transportation focus and specific knowledge of horizontal and vertical roadway geometric design (MUTCD and AASHTO)
- Proficiency in one or more of the following: MicroStation (including OpenRoads), AutoCAD (including Civil 3D)
- Design experience for intersection and corridor wide improvements, including, crossings, retrofits, ADA, and drainage
- Experience coordinating utility, right-of-way, street lighting, traffic signals, and landscape and hardscape layout
- Experience developing construction documents, cost estimates
- Interest in multimodal and active transportation design
It would be a plus if you had any of the following:
- Exposure to construction management
- Familiarity working with local public transportation agencies and standards
