I.POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Mechanical Integrity Engineer's role is to support the Mechanical Integrity Program at Formosa Plastics Corporation, Texas. The Mechanical Integrity Program utilizes industry codes, standards, and Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP's) to maximize fixed equipment and piping reliability by supporting the written procedures of the program to ensure process fixed equipment and piping are operated and maintained safely.
II.MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Support the Mechanical Integrity Staff
Staff members support the Mechanical Integrity Program with all aspects of the position objective as mentioned above.
Support the Mechanical Integrity Inspection Department
Provide technical assistance to the API inspectors as needed to insure compliance with the API inspection codes and the Mechanical Integrity Program QA/QC Manual.
Develop and maintain the Mechanical Integrity Program QA/QC Manual
Help complete the development of the manual, and review/revise procedures as necessary to help maintain the Mechanical Integrity Program.
Conduct Corrosion Studies Reviews
Help the production units develop and maintain a corrosion control document (CCD) by reviewing corrosion studies and damage mechanisms on an as needed basis.
Assist with completing the transition of the MI inspection program to the GE APM system
This will provide a single source for inspections, repair recommendations and scheduling of next inspections.
Auditing of inspection and recommendation reports
This insures compliance with the MI QA/QC Program
Assisting the Inspection Department with Lump Sum Bid Packages
This helps the inspection department to obtain competitive bid packages for inspection activities.
Cost Control
Help to maintain a department budget by practicing cost savings activities routinely.
THM: Promote cleanliness and order through the implementation of the Total Housekeeping Maintenance Program. Emphasize Nothing Touch the Ground Program and No Visual Pollution Program. Maintain the plant in like new condition.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
A. TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA
- Previous Related Experience Required
No experience necessary; Knowledge of petrochemical process and Mechanical Integrity Program basis and processes preferred.
Familiarity with API 510, 570, and 653 Codes and associated documents is preferred. Familiarity with API 580 and 581 Risk Based Inspections Codes and associated documents preferred. Knowledge of Material Sciences and Mechanical Engineering preferred.

- Education
BS in Mechanical Engineering or Material Science Engineering (Corrosion Science and Engineering) degree. Other related engineering disciplines considered.
